I used to think that people who said they didn’t need to understand the lyrics (or libretto, if referring to opera) to enjoy music were full of shit. Then I encountered pretty much everything I’ve heard by Sigur Ros.

Joy and elegy fill “hoppipolla.” It’s the kind of thing that brings a smile even as you tear up. And you don’t know why. And you don’t care.

I won’t be at all happy if Jools is responsible for making more people know about Sigur Ros… they are my little secret and absolutely nobody I know has heard of them… apart from when I tell them how marvellous they are.
