Why I enjoy Tumblr (Flickr, Vimeo and Facebook)
Now I know why I enjoy reading through someone’s Tumblr pages, going through someone’s entire Flickr or Vimeo profile, or browsing through Facebook status updates.
Tumblr made this especially apparent - as I read, browse, and consume this stuff, I caught myself automatically imagining what’s it like to be in that person’s world.
Turns out, I read to find an answer to: “What does it feel like to be them?”
The question, of course, goes largely unanswered as I make up my own answer in the process. The images, posts and videos I see are merely snapshots and then I fill the gaps myself. The bigger gaps are with strangers or people I don’t know well, and that’s more fun.
All this, in my head, in split seconds, keeps me interested.
I wonder how many people notice themselves doing this.
These are my thoughts exactly! I’ve been “consumed” by reading strangers’ tumblers. The more I read them the less they are strangers and the more interested I become. I could even say I have a few tumblr crushes :)
