When is it ok for a man to cry?

I’m going with never. And then only in private.

A kick in the balls.

Or when your son gets married.

Those are the only two.

Only two? Try reading this post by BagCoffee (one of your fellow Testestumblerones and amazing writer judging by the post) and then tell me there are only two times its ok for a guy to cry.

I swear my particular brand of sarcasm goes over/under the heads of 99% of my fellow Tumblrs.

I’ve admitted here before that I am a sucker for getting a tear in my eye while watching films. I’ve cried over books, over music, over TV shows, and that’s just in the last 6 months.

I’ve broken down in tears because of things people have said, things they have done, and things they haven’t done/said. I’ve been to more funerals than I care to relive in the last few years, and they’ve all affected me.

Hell, I was in tears when I wrote this response to someone else who had just found out their relative had cancer. I was alone and it brought up a lot of emotions for me. It took me ages to write that because I couldn’t get through the tears.

So yeah, try to understand that I’m a sarcastic bastard at the best of times, but when you actually read my posts thoroughly you’ll see that I can be sincere when I feel the need to be.

These are the times I hate the internet…. you don’t hear the inflection and emphasis in the words… you just read them in your head… and often get it so so wrong…

When I read Rob’s post about when it’s ok for a man to cry I kinda heard him saying it with a half smiley/half jokey voice… and my response was written in much the same… (maybe if I had thrown in a “pffft” and a “Bah rubbish” or something funny like that it would have come across better).

No matter… any opportunity to link to BagCoffee’s amazing post is good as far as I’m concerned… I’ve been saving it for days.
